Why Mike

I have deep experience in:

  • The Tech Industry
  • Large-scale IT infrastructure projects
  • Managing large budgets and projects
  • Government work at the federal, state, and local levels

Over the last 25 years, I have been a technical leader at four startups with two successful acquisitions and have worked with some of the most successful tech companies in the world, including Nvidia, Dell/EMC, and IBM. I am currently a lead engineer at Cisco Systems, the largest networking company in the world.

I have the most technology experience of anyone who has run for the City Commission this century, and I aim to identify technology improvements that create greater efficiencies and lower costs in our city government.

I have planned, budgeted, and implemented large-scale IT infrastructure projects and kept these projects fiscally sound. These projects have served over 200 enterprise customers, domestically and internationally, including household tech companies, major universities, and Fortune 500 companies.

I also have years of federal, state, and local governmental experience. I planned and delivered the public safety network of Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Southern Maryland, which is used by first responders across that region. And I helped win a federal grant for a county-wide fiber project in rural Virginia.

Locally, I have spent the last three years in parent-leadership positions at my two boys’ elementary school, Prairie Park Elementary. My wife and I have spent countless hours advocating to local leaders and officials for the families and victims of recent events.
