Housing Affordability
I entered the City Commission race because of the lack of available and affordable housing in Lawrence.
In 2018, a study was commissioned that did a Housing Market Analysis of Lawrence:

That renters in Lawrence “can afford homes priced between $110,000 and $262,000 (pg 12).”
Compare this with the median sale price for a Lawrence house seven years later: $315,000!
I believe our community is writing off home ownership for current Lawrencians and our children’s generation. We can do better!
My policy proposal is for off-site constructed homes:
- They will increase the single family homes in our community.
- These types of homes are built off-site and then finished on-site on a concrete pad.
- These homes are not mobile homes and can have basements.
- These types of homes are 35%-70% cheaper than a finished, on-site home.
Here is an example of what these homes look like:

As a City Commissioner, I will work provide a path to home ownership for our neighbors and friends who want to grow, live, and thrive in Lawrence. This type of construction is a step in that direction.
